DYH: One Team, One Body

26 06 2008

1 Corinthians 12:12

“The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body…

Now the body is not made up of one part but of many. If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. If they were all one part, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one body.

The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.”

Not Ours

25 06 2008

Someone congratulated us because of this shop.

One of our friends was strolling around Raffles City Convention Centre and took some pics of it. HAR-DI-HAR-HAR.. very funny. But this is not ours. We don’t sell ladies shoes and dresses. Well, at least not yet.

Week2: Rained Out

25 06 2008

Can you believe it? First, the PinoyIT 3rd season ain’t what it used to as compared to last season (venues.. schedules.. teams asking for re-schedules). Anyway, due to bad weather, only the Saturday games were played last weekend. Fortunately, Team Emerio got to play… sort of.

Emerio back in full strength; Still falls to Abbey Pub ( 62-68 )

June 21, Sengkang – After their first loss, the players of Team Emerio got the urgency to win their second match. Even an injured ankle didn’t stop Joseph Malibiran from coming back to the roster.

It did good for Emerio at the start. Contesting the Abbey Pub’s strong front court and a back court heated match up between Al Bughao and Dexter De Guzman.

Unfortunately, Team Emerio just had too many players to rotate that got the Abbey Pub to win the game by four points.

Bad news, no matter how small the lead is, a loss is a loss.

Good news, look for Emerio to bounce back to their winning ways this weekend (sked TBA).

Week1: A good start

17 06 2008

Practices pays off; Dunamis enjoys 48-point win over Optimum Solutions (75-27)

June 14, Sengkang – Opening the 2008 season, the Dunamis found themselves pitted against the Optimum Solutions, a team which they also faced in last season’s debut. Same team, same result, but this time it was better.

The Dunamis started the season with jitters. Having no uniform and missing a veteran starter, the team was held scoreless for the first 2 minutes of the game. That until they broke off to a 7-point run using stingy defense against the Optimum Solutions team.

Having a double-digit cushion to end the first half, the Dunamis continued to make a strong run to blow the lead up to 48 points.

All in all, it was a good game and a good start for the team who recruited new players over the off-season. We wish the Optimum Solutions team all the best.

The Dunamis will next face the Serangoon Boiz on June 22, 2pm at Sengkang CC.

* Game notes: Rookie Milo Cablao started for Andrew “Mr 45″ Carvajal; Joey “Microwave” Miranda made career record 3-straight 3 pointers; Sengkang CC has a semi-covered court;

Bughao, Emerio late run not enough; Loses rematch game against West Dos (78-97)

June 14, Sengkang – Billed as a rematch game between the Emerio and the West Dos didn’t lived up the hype. Missing their center Joseph Malibiran and Roy “Mr Heart and Soul” Yumul, the Emerio team was held to a 1-13 run in the first 5 minutes of the game.

Emerio’s Alfonsius Bughao helped carry the offensive slack and got the team clicking to trim the lead down to 2 in the end of the first half. But the West Dos team were just too much of a worry in both ends of the floor.

In full force, the West Dos team exploited Emerio’s lack of front court size. When Emerio’s defense reacted, the former started to make their long ranges.

Team Emerio made a late run to down the lead to 8, but was unable to be the closer losing 3 straight games now to West Dos since last years finals.

The Emerio will next face the Abbey Pub on June 22, 3.30pm at Sengkang CC.

* Game notes: Joseph Malibiran is nursing a foot injury; Roy Yumul is out of town during the game;

Glass half full; Forza 2-points shy from win against Abbey Pub

June 15, Sengkang – It’s all business for the Team Forza on Fathers Day.

With an under-manned team of 8 players, the team played hard against the veterans of the Abbey Pub (PinoyIT Bros). League MVP Richard Manguera and Ryan Gonzales shared the scoring load while Vince Lacson and Mervin Ilagan helped the team from letting the Abbey Pub run away with an easy victory.

A close game until the end, the Abbey Pub team made a free throw to up their lead cushion to 2 points. With no timeouts and inbounding from the end-court, Manguera received and attempted a 4-point shot but of to no avail.

The Forza will next face the DL Resources on June 22, 5pm at Sengkang CC.

* Game notes: An in-game altercation happened between Forza’s Ryan Gonzales and Abbey Pub’s Rommel Simangan; A formal complaint has been sent to the organizers of the unsporting behaviour of the Abbey Pub player; An amended ruling has been issued on June 16 for Unsporting Behaviour which implies that repeat offenders will also incur a game forfeit to the team of the offender;
