Kidd an ex-Nike?

Is this for real?

Jason Kidd Leaves Nike – headed to PEAK

Words_B.Mattox

Jason Kidd is putting down the Swoosh, and opting for PEAK, an athletic footwear brand out of China. This would probably be a bigger deal if Kidd happened to be in his playing “peak.” It appears that between Basketball games and attending Misty May’s Volleyball matches during the Beijing Games, Kidd was in the conference room working on a deal.

Exciting Converse Shoes

It’s been a very long while since Converse has come up with a great line of shoes. Remember when they came up with the React Voltage that Latrell Sprewell rocked in the 90s, dropping 24 per game?

They also did the craziest thing of making basketball shoes out of denim, you know? I just happen to forget the name of that Converse line. It should be right up there in the 1990 circa with the Reacts.

Anyways, Converse started to show that they still got what it takes to compete against Nike (although they were bought out by them in 2003). When they made a decent release of the Wade 1, Wade 1.3, Wade 2.0, and Wade 3, they’re starting to make new and affordable kicks to play in.

Take for example the Converse Assist..

.. the Game Time..

.. and the Double Double*.

*This shoe could friggin hurt your toes if you don’t wear socks. The inseams and sockliners hurt like hell.

Now Converse is set to return with new shoe lines this NBA’08 season. In relation to this, they just signed up Elton Brand as their latest endorser.

This pics says that either Brand is wearing a player exclusive shoes or he’s up next to have a Brand shoeline (notice the EB logo).

Also, during their 100th anniversary campaign, they did manage to say that Michael Jordan started his greatness by wearing Converse.

If JB (Jordan Brand) have their Old Love / New Love Beginning Moment Package (BMP), Converse was set to rival this with their Defining Moment Package (Jordan Edition).

Hopefully this will hit the retail stores soon.

PinoyIT: August Roundup

8 08 2008

August 8, 2008 – 08.08.08. That’ll only happen once every 100 years.  So here’s the roundup of the teams in the PinoyIT League.

Team Forza Dominating

How good are the Forzas? Imagine this. Their last game against the Alchemists, they dropped their oppents with a 69-35 match. How many were they? Only 8 players. Prior to that, they also overwhelmed the Rapza 93-62.

With only 1 loss and 3 official wins (1 was cancelled due to rain), the Forza is a strong contender against the top-tiers of the league.

Forza will play against the defending champs (Manguera and Ilagan’s former team), West DOS on August 17, 7.30p. Venue to be announced.

Team Emerio back to winning ways

The team that went without any wins in their first 3 games are now back to the 500 club.

Team Emerio who went unbeaten last season in the elimination round came strong in their latest 3 game winning streak. With an average of 23point wins against MOMO, Conquistador, and league sponsor Optimum Solutions, it seems like the Emerio boys are back in their groove.

Hopefully, Team Emerio’s winning streak won’t be affected by their breaks from the league schedule.

Dunamis shows proof of life

After starting strong, the flag team Dunamis has had its share of snake-bites and misfortunes. The Dunamis has lost 4 straight games dropping to the bottom-tier (.200).

Fortunately, the team had a strong urgency to win their last game against the top 4 team, Blessed. The Dunamis surprised the Blessed by keeping themselves within striking distance after struggling in the first quarter.

Down by 5 points in the last 2 minutes, the Dunamis kept the Blessed scoreless. Although their defense was clicking, the Dunamis failed to capitalize on the Blessed’s turnovers.

The highlight of the game was when Frederick Marasigan stole the ball for a fastbreak layup while getting fouled. The referee called a flagrant foul on the Blessed and awarded Marasigan with 2 technical freethrows and 2 extra freethrows.

Marasigan failed to put in all four shots while the Blessed came away with a 7 point win.

Nonetheless, the Dunamis are now upbeat for their next match against Rapza on August 18, 7.30p. Venue to be announced.
